Bill and I first met in 1982. From that first meeting we had an instant connection. Our relationship, although brief, was very serious. We were in love!! There were obstacles in my life at that time and I had to make the decision to part ways. We said goodby and Bill moved 1000 miles away back to his home town.
Life went on and for the next 22 years we did not see or speak to each other. Bill never left my heart though and many, many times I thought about him and wondered how his life had turned out. I imagined how it would have been if we could have been together.
In May of last year I ran into a friend that I had not seen for several years. She was from the same town as Bill and I knew that she knew him well. He happened to pop into my head at that very moment as he had many times over the years. I asked the friend if she had heard from him. She had and we decided to call him right then. Boy was he surprised at the voice on the other end of the line. Right away he wanted to know if I was available, and yes, I was!!!
We began talking by telephone and got to know each other all over again. He confessed to me that he had never forgotten me and many times had wondered about me as I had about him. In July he came to Florida for a visit and we saw each other for the first time in 22 years. We spent 3 wonderful weeks together.
He went back home and we began talking about a future together. We both knew that if that was going to be possible he would have to make a very serious decision. He came again for a visit in November. By then we knew that we wanted to be together!!!
In January of this year Bill moved 1000 miles across the country to be with me. We are very happy! I love him very much and couldn't ask for a better partner in life!!
